Tags~~~

Almost two months ago I was tagged by a dear blogger named kansasrose...well, I forgot about the tag. Blame it on brain fade. Blame it on disorganization...oh blame blame blame! sorry!
Here's the tag rules:

1. The book must be over 123 pages.

2. Find page 123 in the book.

3. Find the first 5 sentences.

4. Post the next 3 sentences.

5. Tag other people

The book: Velvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian Faith, by Rob Bell

Page 123 is blank! So I'll go to page 124:

"Something involving God making peace with the world and creation being reclaimed and everything in heaven and earth being brought back into harmony with its Creator.

But before all the big language and grand claims, the story of Jesus was about a Jewish man, living in a Jewish region among Jewish people, calling people back to the way of the Jewish God.

When I first began to realize that Jesus was Jewish, I thought, No way; he was a Christian. "

Snippets of books are a bit peculiar. It's like stepping into the middle of a conversation and not really being sure of all that is said!
This was fun, Kansasrose, and I hope you'll forgive me for taking so long~~

I also got tagged by Sis on another book tag~

Scenario: Books are scarce in the world. They are illegal in some provinces. They are not easily replaced, if not impossible to replace if lost in many if not most circumstances. If you can replace a book or buy one, it is usually through the black market ristian.at astronomical costs that you cannot afford. Yet you have been able to maintain one of the best collections in the world. If your entire library was about to burn up (think of the firefighters in Fahrenheit 451 invading your home) and you could only have one book to take with you other than the Bible, what would that be and why?

Simple Rules: Answer the question. Offer one quote that resonates with you. Tag five people whose response is of genuine interest to you and inform him or her that they have been tagged. Cheers!"

My book is The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale. When I was 18, I went to Guadalajara on a Spanish club scholarship for 6 weeks with my friend Carla. The only book that I brought was this book. It and "Alive"--a book about a Latin American soccer team that got stuck in the Andes--were the only two books in English that we girls had!

I read TPOPT over and over and over again as the years went by. As in many families, there was a lot of negativity as I was growing up. This book really made me start to look at my world differently. To begin to see the positives in my circumstances, and to emphasize these more and more each day.

Here's a wonderful quote from this favorite book:

"People who assume failure tend to have failure. When either failure or success is picturized it strongly tends to actualize in terms equivalent to the mental image pictured.

To assure something worth while happening, first pray about it and test it according to God's will; then print a picture of it on your mind as happening, holding the picture firmly in consciousness. Continue to surrender the picture to God's will---that is to say, put the matter in God's hands--and follow God's guidance. Work hard and intelligently, thus doing your part to achieve success in the matter. Practice believing and continue to hold the picturization firmly in your thoughts. Do this and you will be astonished at the strange ways in which the picturization comes to pass. In this manner the picture "actualizes". That which you have "prayerized" and "picturized" "actualizes" according to the pattern of your basic realizable wish when conditioned by invoking God's power upon it, and if, moreover, you give fully of yourself to its realization."

After this Dr. Peale gave examples of how this formula worked for others. I love the examples!

So, enough of this bookish talk! I don't tag...never have even in grade school! But if any reader would like to continue these tags, go ahead and have fun! You'll learn a bit more about yourself and we'll learn more about you.
