Charmita Class Yesterday!

Charmitas!
Charms or focal pendants created from copper sheet, wire and beads.

Yesterday afternoon was a fun day of learning and creating at Benicia Bead Shop in Bencia, California.

Seven brave women and myself embarked on 3+ hours of goofing off with purpose.  They were at different levels of jewelry making, different places in life, but they all wanted to make some cool charms.

We picked out our beads and crystals, and cut into the copper sheet to fit our bead choice.  I disclosed that I have bled on my projects more than once and encouraged them to avoid doing the same!   Stamping=pounding=need for earplugs and safety glasses were available for all.  Hole punching, applying patina (stinky!) and the correct way to open jump rings were all practiced.  A wonderful time!

I took too few pictures of the students' final pieces.  I confess I was a tired teacher at the end of it all!  Here are the few pictures that I took:

Too much fun!  And a variety of results~

Have a blessed week.  Second half of October.  Can't fathom it.  :-)  2013 is racing by.

Chris, I have your blog in my favs and check it often, as I love seeing what you have made and reading of your daily activities and adventures in your jewelry making. Your charms are really neat. When did you come up with this idea? Keep up your good work.

Chris, I love your blog and have it in my favs, so that I can check it every day or so, to see all your new jewelry and just what you have been doing...classes, teaching , etc. I love your charms and just wondering when you came up with that idea. Would you be upset if I made some (my own ideas)? You and your jewelry are awesome.

Charlotte! You can use the charmita technique whenever you like~ and I know you'll add your own ideas and creativity.
I thought of this simple idea a couple of years ago, just goofing around cutting metal and wiring on beads. Goofing off~~a super creative tool~~ :-)
Bless you!

Thank you Chris, I was lucky that I still had some copper sheets and even some pieces that were already cut, so I found, in my bead stash, some stones that I will use, plus, I went to bead shop today and bought a large opalite and agate stone to use. My hand hole punch does not work and I really don't want to buy another one. I do have a Dremel that I can use to cut holes, so need to do that tomorrow. Thanks again Chris, Carlotte
